The Residence has now started on Netflix, starring Uzo Aduba as eccentric detective Cordelia Cupp.

Along with the (unwanted) help of FBI Special Agent Edwin Park (Randall Park), Cupp must uncover who killed the President’s Chief Usher, A.B. Wynter (Giancarlo Esposito).

With 157 suspects, The Residence cast list is extensive, including This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson, My Name Is Earl lead actor Jason Lee, and even pop singer Kylie Minogue, who plays an animated version of herself.

But, Minogue isn’t the only celebrity who is said to appear in the eight-part madcap drama.

While the likes of Harry Styles and Cardi B are name dropped as potential performers at the state dinner, The Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman is heavily mentioned throughout.

He’s said to be in attendance at the state dinner. But, is the actor actually in The Residence?

Here’s everything you need to know.

Is Hugh Jackman in Netflix’s The Residence?

Unfortunately not.

While Kylie Minogue isn’t hard to spot and has a few lines in the eight-part drama, we don’t actually see Hugh Jackman apart from a few side profiles and his eyes over the top of a paper that has his name on it.

In one scene we “see” him being interviewed by Cupp and in another scene he’s mentioned after asking to be let up to his guest room while the investigation is being conducted.

It turns out that the man in the suit actually isn’t Hugh Jackman, but is instead played by a body double named Justin Ellis-Johnson.

Ellis-Johnson did a pretty convincing job imitating the Australian actor, however, when looking closely fans realised that wasn’t actually Hugh Jackman.

Before taking on the role of Hugh Jackman in this new Netflix show, Ellis-Johnson appeared in the Freddie Highmore-led film August Rush.

The Residence is available to stream on Netflix.
