Cardi B and Pardison Fontaine have made for a dynamic musical duo over the years. Fontaine has co-written some of Cardi’s biggest hits like “Bodak Yellow,” “I Like It,” and “WAP,” and in 2018, the two collaborated for the song “Backin’ It Up.” They seemingly recorded other songs together all those years ago, including the newly released track “Toot It Up.”

Fontaine fans have known about the song for some time, and earlier this week, their badgering to release the track prompted him to act. “You guys keep asking for ‘Toot It.’ Where’s ‘Toot It’? Where’s ‘Toot It’ at? Can we get ‘Toot It’?” he said on Instagram, per Billboard. “Here go the song. Here go ‘Toot It.’ Take it, play it, do whatever y’all gon’ do with it, shake a**. Here go the song, don’t ask for that s**t no more.” He then addressed Cardi directly saying “it’s been eight years” since they made the track and he was ready to have it out in the world. “Get this song off my hard drive!” he said. “They keep asking for this!”

The song is a club-ready smash that flips Nas’ 2002 single “Made You Look” into an interpolation of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s hit “Jump On It.” “Shake it to the east, shake it to the west / If you shake it on me, you get diamond and baguettes / Toot, toot that a** up / Toot, toot that a** up,” they rap on the track.

While the song is seemingly a one-off release that has been locked up in the vault for years, Cardi doesn’t appear to be taking her foot off the gas when it comes to music. It’s been nearly seven years since the release of her Grammy-winning debut album Invasion of Privacy (in which Fontaine played a key role as co-writer), and she confirmed to fans earlier this week that her long-awaited sophomore album is “complete.” When the project comes out—and whether Fontaine is involved again—remains to be seen.
