BREAKING: Anthony Edwards Punished by NBA for What He Did During Timberwolves-Lakers

It’s been a rough past couple days for Anthony Edwards. Not only did the Minnesota Timberwolves suffer a 111-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night, but they also saw Edwards get ejected after he picked up a pair of technical fouls along the way.
With those two techs, Edwards now has 16 on the year, which earns him an automatic one-game suspension from the NBA. That was enforced for Minnesota’s clash with the Utah Jazz on Friday night, which the Timberwolves also lost. And now, on Saturday, Edwards has once again faced the wrath of the NBA.
The league already suspended Edwards for one game, but that is an automatic decision that gets enforced anytime a player accrues 16 technical fouls on the year. After reviewing the incident further, the league revealed that they were also fining Edwards $35,000 for his conduct after his ejection.
“The NBA has also fined Anthony Edwards $35,000 for failing to leave court in (a) timely manner and throwing (the) ball into the stands on Thursday night,” Shams Charania of ESPN reported in a post on X.
This tough stretch has seen Minnesota fall to ninth place in the Western Conference standings, which is a far cry from last season, when they made it all the way to the Western Conference finals. Against the Lakers, Edwards’ frustrations boiled over, and now, he’s paying a hefty price.
Individually, Edwards is enjoying the best season of his career, as he’s averaging 27.3 points, six rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game on 43.7% shooting from the field. That helped him earn his third straight All-Star selection, and he’s virtually a lock to make it on one of the three All-NBA teams at this point.
The good news for Edwards is that his suspension is up, and he will be able to return to the court for Minnesota when they square off against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday.
