The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off one of the most thrilling comebacks of the season, defeating the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder 131-128 in overtime on Monday night. Though the Timberwolves celebrated the hard-fought win, head coach Chris Finch didn’t hold back his frustrations about how the game was officiated.

In his post-game press conference, Finch was particularly vocal regarding the Thunder’s aggressive style of play. Finch also criticized the way referees handled the game, pointing out what he believes is a pattern favoring Oklahoma City.

“It’s so frustrating to play this team because they foul a ton. They really do. They foul, they foul all the time. And then you can’t really touch Shai. It’s a very frustrating thing, and it takes a lot of mental toughness to play through it,” Finch said.

You know, we just eventually were able to get downhill and force the issue ourselves, and we’re rewarded for it,” he added.

Minnesota Timberwolves Secure Sweet Revenge On Thunder

The win was particularly satisfying for Minnesota, as it came just a day after losing to the Thunder 130-123 in their previous game. With the victory, the Timberwolves improved to 32-27 on the season, climbing to the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

What made the victory even sweeter was how the Timberwolves clawed back from a massive 25-point deficit. They finished regulation with a 16-0 run in the final 3:41 to force overtime.

Jaden McDaniels led the charge with an impressive 27-point performance. However, it was Anthony Edwards who made the defining play of the night. Edwards came up with a crucial block on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, stopping the Thunder’s star guard from sealing the victory. Edwards finished the game with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists.
