Kyrie Irving Avoids Emotional Reunion Talk Before Facing Doncic

Before the highly anticipated game between the Lakers and the Mavericks, Kyrie Irving shared his thoughts on facing Luka Doncic. Speaking to the media, Irving shared the competitive nature of the game and downplayed the external narratives surrounding Doncic’s return to face his former team.

“High level basketball game. A lot of good players on the floor at once. Outside of just the obvious of us being in L.A., being a former team of Luka’s, obviously the narrative’s already written. I don’t know what else I can really add to that. I’m pretty much focused in telling my guys just to focus on the high level game we’ve got to win,” Irving said.

Despite Irving’s mindset, the Mavericks fell short against the Lakers, who secured a 107-99 victory. In his first game against Dallas since the trade, the former Mavs star put up a triple-double, while Irving led the Mavericks with 35-point performance.
