Stephen Curry Drops Giant Truth Bomb On What He Is “Still Playing For” Amid Warriors’ Second-Half Resurgence

Stephen Curry has already cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players in NBA history, leading the Golden State Warriors to four championships over his illustrious 16-year career. However, at 36 years old, the veteran guard is aware that the end of his career is approaching. Before he hangs up his sneakers, Curry has one final goal in mind.
In a recent interview on 95.7 The Game’s “Steiny & Guru,” Curry was asked about his motivation to keep playing. Without hesitation, he hinted at winning another title in the Bay Area.
“Somebody asked me this summer, ‘What are you still playing for?’ [Ring No.5] That’s literally the only thing you’re playing for… I like where we’re at right now. I think we have what it takes to do it,” Curry said.
The Warriors’ championship aspirations are not unrealistic, especially after the acquisition of Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Butler’s arrival has propelled them to a remarkable 12-1 record since the trade and elevated them to the sixth seed in the Western Conference. With this resurgence, the possibility of another Warriors title in the next few seasons is becoming increasingly plausible.
Stephen Curry Addresses His Retirement Timeline

Beyond his championship ambitions, Stephen Curry also addressed the lingering question of how much longer he plans to play in the NBA. When asked about his career longevity, he responded honestly and truthfully.

“Man, I don’t know. I’ve tried to answer that question before, and I’ve said a lot of different things just based on how I feel that day. But I think it’s all kind of measured on the style of, can I get to that level that I expect for myself?” Curry said.
Even at this stage of his career, Curry continues to defy Father Time. This season, he averages 24.5 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game.
