The NBA viewership has taken a backseat this season. However, the star players’ signings and trades shocked the fans; even the trade rumors generated a significant buzz. One failed trade that raised the eyebrows of fans was Kevin Durant’s return to the Golden State Warriors. While revealing the reason behind rejecting the trade, the Phoenix Suns superstar discussed his future with the franchise after the 2024-25 NBA season.

During Kevin Durant’s recent conversation with Malika Andrews, the Suns star ended speculation about his rift with Draymond Green and other reasons for not re-signing with the Warriors. KD claimed that he “just didn’t want to get traded midway through the season.

During Kevin Durant’s recent conversation with Malika Andrews, the reporter asked Slim Reaper about his future with the Suns following the 2024-25 NBA season. After Durant revealed he didn’t want to get traded mid-season, the ESPN reporter asked him about leaving Phoenix in the summer.

You gotta ask the [Suns] front office about that. I mean, I never planned on leaving or moving. I didn’t ask for a trade from Phoenix. But, obviously, when you pay so much for a team, and we’re not playing up to our expectations, somebody has to go,” Durant said.

In the same conversation, the Suns star ended speculation about his rift with Draymond Green and other reasons for not re-signing with the Warriors. “I just didn’t want to get traded midway through the season,” KD stated quashing all the rumors.

I come from neighborhoods where people don’t even talk to each other. It’s so much hate in the world… When people get to start laughing and joking for a game of ball, it’s cool to me. So, like, it gets me emotional, dawg…” Durant said.

It’s crazy to see a person who travelled so long to come see their favourite player play in the Olympics. They spend their money, they bring their whole family. It’s just dope to me. The game has saved my life, so… It brought me and my family out of a lot of ****, so I’m just grateful for it. For real,” he added.

While Durant’s future with the Suns remains uncertain, the two-time NBA champion is committed to the franchise for this season. Phoenix will travel to the Moody Center to face the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday in their first game following the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend.
