The tension began when the Mavericks made the shocking decision to trade Doncic midseason without any prior notice. For a player who had been the face of the franchise and a loyal leader, the trade was more than just a business move; it was a personal blow.

Despite the growing frustrations from fans, the Mavericks insisted there was no bad blood between the organization and Doncic. However, their actions told a different story. Recently, the team released a highlight video. Nevertheless, what truly caught fans’ attention was the shocking decision to censor Luka Doncic from the footage.

Dwight Howard Slams Mavericks Over Luka Doncic Trade Drama

In a recent episode of ‘Above The Rim with DH 12’, Dwight Howard didn’t hold back his thoughts on the Mavericks’ controversial handling of Luka Doncic before trading him to the Los Angeles Lakers. The former NBA veteran accused them of tarnishing Doncic’s image before his unexpected midseason departure.

“It’s when they don’t want to give you a contract. They got to find something to say. Just think about what they were saying about Luka when he left Dallas. Now, Luka is out of shape. He’s been having problems with the team internally,” Howard said.

Like Howard said, Luka is currently struggling to find his rhythm in Los Angeles. Whether it’s lingering injury concerns or the weight of recent mental strain, Doncic hasn’t looked like his usual dominant self on the court. In his first three games with the Lakers, he’s averaged just 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
