The Boston Celtics’ five-game winning streak came to an end on Wednesday after a 112-118 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. The game saw an exceptional performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who reaffirmed the Thunder’s position as the top seed in the Western Conference, while Jaylen Brown struggled to meet expectations.

However, Brown’s struggles weren’t the only reason he was in the spotlight. A slow-motion clip from the game quickly went viral, showing him pushing Gilgeous-Alexander. Shai fell to the ground immediately.

The controversial moment ignited a debate across social media. Some fans called it a blatant foul that should have been penalized, while others accused Gilgeous-Alexander of flopping to draw attention.

Boston cancels Heat culture to advance to East semis to face Magic or Cavs
The Boston Celtics got their revenge against the Miami Heat for sending them fishing in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, instead kicking off the Heat’s postseason with a Game 5 win over Miami in their 2024 NBA Eastern Conference first round series. The 118-84 blowout was a fitting end for longtime Celtics broadcaster Mike Gorman’s 43-year career, and now Boston waits for star center Kristaps Porzingis to heal up and for a winner to emerge from the Cleveland Cavaliers – Orlando Magic series. The Celtics will face the winner perhaps as soon as next Sunday (May 5). What do we need to reflect on from this series, and what else is coming down the pike? The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast got together postgame to get us up to speed with all things Boston and postseason. We also give Celtics president Brad Stevens his flowers for a well-earned Executive of the Year award. The Celtics Lab podcast is brought to you by Prize Picks and Gametime. Navigating Boston’s ‘big’ cap concerns with Yossi Gozlan
The Boston Celtics and Grant Williams could not come to terms on a rookie scale extension for the Tennessee alumnus ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, with Williams instead electing to bet on himself. How could this play out for both parties given we’re hearing rumbles of interest from opposing teams? How does the looming free agency of Al Horford affect Boston’s cap space outlook? The backdrop for Boston’s offseason financial concerns for their frontcourt also takes shape with a likely cap spike and looming media rights deal that could transform labor negotiations ahead of the league’s next collective bargaining agreement, so what might something like a hard cap mean for Boston? To get a look at some lingering but timely issues from a teambuilding perspective, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with HoopsHype cap guru Yossi Gozlan to talk over the contours of the Celtics’ and NBA’s cap management concerns, with an unvarnished view of the team’s start thrown in for good measure. Your usual hosts Cameron Tabatabaie and Justin Quinn also touch on Kyrie Irving’s suspension in the context of a lot of bad NBA news percolating to the surface all at once this week. CLPod 74: The Cs teams that never were, late summer moves & more
Two months out from the start of the regular season, and nearly half as long from camp, more than a few of us are starting to get antsy without basketball to watch. With that in mind, we decided it was time to dust off the microphones and record an episode of the CLPod to talk about the (very few) moves of note going down since the last time we recorded two weeks ago.And with the team in a liminal space between seasons, neither last season’s Celtics nor the next, Mark Allison and Justin Quinn got to thinking about all the different ways this timeline of Boston’s journey from one contending squad to the next could have gone differently. So, we put our heads together, and tried to imagine how the Cs might look if Danny Ainge had kept the last title team together longer, or if Brad Stevens had said no, or if Boston hadn’t signed Al Horford, or…well, you’ll have to listen to hear them all.So, if you’re as ready as we are for some real, live NBA games that count, you’re going to have to wait a while. But if you want some news and analysis on not just this timeline, but several others we don’t happen to be on, buckle up and listen to this week’s CLPod – we have at least another month of doldrums ahead of us, and a lot to be thankful for, if our thought experiments are as realistic as we think they are.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Jaylen Brown Reflects On Lack Of Aggression After Celtics’ Loss To Thunder

Following the defeat, Jaylen Brown didn’t shy away from taking accountability for his performance. In the postgame press conference, the Celtics star admitted he wasn’t aggressive or physical enough.

I didn’t get a free throw attempt tonight. That means I wasn’t aggressive enough or I wasn’t physical enough. Even when [the referees] choose not to call fouls or whatever it is, I’m [usually] still able to get at least one free throw attempt. I had zero, so that just lets me know that I wasn’t aggressive enough,” Brown said.

After the latest loss, the Celtics are now 47-19 in the season. The defending champions are set to begin a challenging stretch, playing eight of their next nine games on the road. Their first test comes against the Miami Heat on Friday.
