“Nice Job Adam Silver” – Fans React as NBA’s Official Twitter Account Promotes Odd Content After Bizarre Hack and Security Breach

NBA's Social Media Hacked, Promoted Fraudulent Crypto Scheme | OutKick

The NBA recently faced a significant security breach when its official page on X was hacked. The outcry led to the posting of a fake announcement about the launch of a cryptocurrency called NBA Coin. This message, which stirred excitement among fans, claimed that NBA Coin would be hosted on the Solana network and included a crypto wallet address.

However, this post was later deleted and confirmed to be a scam. While the league is already bothered by declining TV ratings, such incidents only add insult to injury. Though it did not take the social media NBA fans to recognize the illegitimate claim of the tweet, reactions started flooding.

In addition to the NBA, the hacking incident also affected the official accounts of the Cleveland Cavaliers and NASCAR. The hackers made similar false claims about new cryptocurrency tokens. Both organizations have confirmed that their accounts were compromised.

Despite previous legitimate ventures into the cryptocurrency sphere, such as the NBA Top Shot digital collectibles launched in 2021, the league is likely to shift its focus towards enhancing cybersecurity following this incident. There is no actual NBA Coin in development, and the situation reminds the league’s need for stronger digital security measures.

Fans Blast Adam Silver After NBA Account Gets Hacked

The tweet was made in such a way that even the most experienced ones can get conned. But the NBA fans are smart, and they flagged the tweet immediately. Later on, Daniel Roberts of Front Office Sports tweeted and busted any such claim of a crypto coin named after the NBA. While seeing all of this happening, the social media fans made the most out of the situation and continued their troll.

Assessing the West ahead of the NBA’s 2023-24 season with Jack Simone
With the offseason just weeks away from training camp, most of the teams around the NBA have pretty close to the version of their roster that will be taking the floor on opening night under contract, even if they may need to make a few more moves around the margin to get to that point. That makes league analysts and fans of the Boston Celtics and the rest of the league able to get a pretty good idea about just how likely each team in the Association is to winning it all, tearing it down, or living in the spaces between those two poles. So with that in mind, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Spurs Wire editor Jack Simone to project the order of the NBA’s Western Conference for the looming 2023-24 season. With sportsbooks like Fan Duel predicting Boston as among the most likely ball clubs to come out of the East, there’s a good chance the teams we picked as contenders could face the Celtics in their first return to the NBA Finals since 2022 — and even if they don’t, it’s good to know a bit about the teams Boston will face in their push to get back there. On the 2021-22 Celtics and patience, rooting for Jerry Buss and more with Gary Gulman
Followers of the Boston Celtics who happen to also be fans of standup comedy are for the most part aware of popular comedian Gary Gulman’s love for the team he grew up watching as a native of Peabody, Massachusetts. So the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Gulman to talk about his prescient analysis of the 2021-22 Boston roster in our most recent episode, touching on everything from how he played the sport along with football in high school (and the latter in college at Boston University) to his outstanding standup and advocacy for mental health. We even get into the new HBO series “Winning Time” and his inside view of the series as it was developed via his own ties to the cast producing the Los Angeles Lakers-centric docu-series given its unignorable ties to the Celtics in the 1980s.  Join Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn for a fascinating talk about Boston sports now and past with one of our favorite comedians in this special edition of the Lab. “Nice job Adam Silver,” a fan commented.

““Hacked” Silver trying to make extra money on the side cause the ratings are down,” another fan blasted the commissioner.

“They trying anything at this point,” a fan quipped.

“Refs already rigging games,” wrote another one.

“Nah this is Adam Silver trying to bring the ratings up with the crypto crowd,” another fan joked.

With ratings already down, the league is getting nowhere without the harsh criticism. They’ve already tried new format for the NBA All-Star Weekend and still failed to impress fans. Let’s hope their next big change works.
