The upcoming matchup between the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks marks the fourth encounter between these two teams this season. Leading up to this game, there was some uncertainty surrounding Hawks’ All-Star guard Trae Young.

Earlier, Young was listed on the injury report as probable due to right Achilles tendinitis. Fortunately, he is expected to play, barring any last-minute setbacks. However, he is having another standout season for the Hawks. The stylish point guard was also named an All-Star as an injury replacement for Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.

In 52 games this season, Young has maintained averages of 24 points per game while shooting 41% from the field and 34% from three-point range. He is currently leading the league in assists per game with 11.4. In their previous three matchups this season, Young has been prominently involved. In the first game, he recorded 25 points and 13 assists but could not secure a win for the Hawks.

Though the second game was tougher for him, as he managed only 13 points on 39% shooting and ended in another loss to the Pistons. However, in their most recent encounter, Young shone brightly and scored 34 points. His points rally included 9 assists that led the Hawks to a victory with a game-winning shot.

Trae Young Sounds Positive Despite Loss Against Pistons

While the team lost against the Pistons, Trae Young put his absolute best to the test. He has been a steady presence for the Hawks, especially during this tough stretch of close losses. After the game, where they just couldn’t pull off the win, Young talked about how important it is to stay positive.

“We got some good, young guys that are playing well. It’s hard to go out there and not focus on winning and losing as a competitor with how much work we put in. It’s definitely hard when you don’t see the result as what you want it to be, but you have to focus on the bright side of things,” Young said.

Despite the recent struggles, the Hawks do have some bright spots to lean on. Young acknowledged the good play from their younger guys like Dyson Daniels and Zaccharie Risacher. He also praised Dyson for being aggressive and mentioned that Zacch hit some big shots.

However, Young’s impressive 38 points and 13 assists were not enough to secure a win for Atlanta, who fell to the Pistons 148-143. Young’s performance was stellar, but the Hawks struggled defensively, allowing the Pistons to shoot an astounding 59.1% from the field. Cade Cunningham matched Young’s scoring feat with 38 points of his own, along with 12 assists and seven rebounds.
