Kawhi Leonard’s 2024-25 season began on a difficult note. The Clippers star was sidelined for the first 34 games due to a surgically repaired right knee. Despite the setback, he has been making a strong effort to keep the team’s playoff hopes alive since returning to action.

Currently, the Clippers hold the eighth spot in the Western Conference with a 35-30 record. Their next challenge comes against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Encouragingly for the team, Leonard is now fully fit and no longer appears on the latest injury report.

This season, Leonard is averaging 18.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. However, injuries have clearly impacted his performance. It marked the first time in his Clippers tenure that he has averaged fewer than 20 points per game.

For the Clippers, Ben Simmons and Drew Eubanks are listed as day-to-day with knee and hip injuries, respectively, while Norman Powell remains out due to a hamstring issue. The Heat’s injury report includes Nikola Jovic, who is sidelined with a hand injury, and Dru Smith, who is out for the season with an Achilles injury. Alec Burks is questionable with a back issue, while Terry Rozier is probable with a chest injury.

Boston cancels Heat culture to advance to East semis to face Magic or Cavs
The Boston Celtics got their revenge against the Miami Heat for sending them fishing in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, instead kicking off the Heat’s postseason with a Game 5 win over Miami in their 2024 NBA Eastern Conference first round series. The 118-84 blowout was a fitting end for longtime Celtics broadcaster Mike Gorman’s 43-year career, and now Boston waits for star center Kristaps Porzingis to heal up and for a winner to emerge from the Cleveland Cavaliers – Orlando Magic series. The Celtics will face the winner perhaps as soon as next Sunday (May 5). What do we need to reflect on from this series, and what else is coming down the pike? The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast got together postgame to get us up to speed with all things Boston and postseason. We also give Celtics president Brad Stevens his flowers for a well-earned Executive of the Year award. The Celtics Lab podcast is brought to you by Prize Picks and Gametime. CL Pod 59: The Boston Celtics Aren’t Dead – They’re Feeling Better, Actually
The Boston Celtics aren’t dead – they’re feeling better actually. Excuse the Monty Python reference, but with all the injuries this team has managed to keep going with yet still be in the hunt for the ultimate prize, Python’s Holy Grail seems pretty apt. The starters have shown signs of life despite being left for dead by the national media, and the second unit keeps on fighting despite losing several key parts, much like the Black Knight. But what other moves has Boston made to address their significant lack of depth, and how are the playoffs looking this week? Maybe most interesting of all, why are beat writers penning missives to their lack of yearning for a departed former player six months after said exit? All these questions and more are answered by Luis Gonzales and Justin Quinn in this week’s podcast.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. As a dude who’s went through a lot of injuries. I know what Kawhi Leonard went through just to get back on the court. To see these buzzer-beaters, 30-point games, and Kawhi looking like his old self is awesome to see,” Parsons said on Run It Back

The Clippers remain in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race. Leonard’s return to peak form could be the key to their postseason success. If he continues performing at his previous level, the Clippers could become a serious threat once again.
