The Golden State Warriors are gearing up for a matchup against the Sacramento Kings at the Chase Center on Thursday. Fans are curious about Jonathan Kuminga’s status for the game. The Warriors are coming off a five-game winning streak and will make sure to carry it to a six-game streak.

However, injury reports indicate that Kuminga will return on Thursday against Sacramento. This will mark his first game since injuring his right ankle on January 4. After missing 31 consecutive games, Kuminga has recently been scrimmaging and is expected to come off the bench.

The Warriors have found success with their current starting lineup since acquiring Jimmy Butler, winning 12 of their last 14 games.

Before his injury, Kuminga was performing exceptionally well. The star forward was averaging 20.5 points over his last 14 games and reaching at least 20 points in four of his six games prior to the injury. Coach Steve Kerr emphasized the importance of a cautious approach to Kuminga’s return, suggesting he will play in short bursts to regain his rhythm.

What went wrong in Game 1 for Boston, and what we’ll see in Game 2 to fix it with Barry Ebua
The Boston Celtics dropped Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Philadelphia 76ers 119-115 despite Sixers big man Joel Embiid missing the game due to a sprained knee. The win came from a career playoff-high outing from James Harden, who shined in Embiid’s absence with the Celtics struggling to adjust their defense to stop him. What went wrong for Boston? Who could have done a better job on the court or behind the clipboard? How worried should we be about Game 2? Will Embiid be able to play in it, or can we expect more small-ball Sixers wreaking havoc on the Celtics’ defense? To take stock of the loss and talk about what might be coming for Game 2, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast sat down with “Pro Fan Sports” podcast host Barry Ebua. After, we hear from Cameron Tabatabaie live from TD Garden to relay what head coach Joe Mazzulla and Boston’s players had to say in light of the loss. Learn more about your ad choices. Why Boston is probably not making big moves at the deadline with Yossi Gozlan
With the Boston Celtics rolling and their path to hanging Banner 18 looking more possible than it has in many years, you can’t fault fans of the storied ball club for hoping for a reunion with former Boston big men Daniel Theis or Kelly Olynyk. Or failing that, team president Brad Stevens getting a deal done for rumored target Isaiah Stewart to fortify the team’s frontcourt. But even fairly modest trades like these are probably not in the cards for the Celtics this season, who can’t follow through with an offer that makes sense given the exigencies of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement or the team’s current structure. But the team will almost certainly make at least a few lesser moves to get better ahead of the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline in Early February, so the hosts of CLNS Media’s “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Cap Sheets’ Yossi Gozlan to try to project what it is Boston actually will end up doing. We also get into why those fun but unrealistic deals bringing back Celtics alumni or Beef Stew are unlikely or impossible, and get caught up on the last Boston news of 2023. Separating fact from fiction in Boston’s 2023-24 campaign with Jeff Zilgitt
When a new NBA season begins, every team is undefeated, and, at least mathematically speaking, a title contender as well. But for fans of the Boston Celtics, such slights of hand are not going to be enough to slake the thirst for Banner 18 raging in the gullets of Bostonians and their ilk. But the consensus seems to be that Boston is as well-prepared to do the deed as any team in the league next season, with the Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets virtual co-favorites to win it all. When the dust settles on the 2023 NBA Finals, we will have our answer, but in the meantime, it is the duty of the league’s press corp to sort fact from fiction regarding the season ahead. To such an end, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with USA TODAY’s Jeff Zilgitt to do exactly that, from the preseason tilts we have seen thus far all the way on to the future of the league beyond this season and the next. Brace yourself for a few spicy takes plus plenty of agreement regarding this tea’s potential — no matter how it pans out, the NBA’s 2023-24 season already looks like the wildest of rides. As the NBA offseason approaches, the future of Jonathan Kuminga with the Golden State hangs in the balance. Despite being a promising young talent with substantial upside, the Warriors opted not to extend his contract this season.

And now there’s a lot of uncertainty about his role within the team. If Kuminga does not receive a competitive offer from the Warriors, he could enter unrestricted free agency this summer. He’s rumored to seek a lucrative deal of around $30 million per year.

This situation comes at a time when the Warriors are considering the hefty contracts they are already committed to Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green.

This decision opens the door for Kuminga to explore other opportunities that could be more aligned with his aspirations, especially if another team is willing to invest heavily in his talent.
