Is Joel Embiid Playing Tonight Against The Chicago Bulls? Latest Injury Update On 76ers Star

The Philadelphia 76ers are set to clash with the Chicago Bulls on Monday, but questions loom over the availability of their star center, Joel Embiid. The Sixers’ season has been rocky, largely due to injuries to key players. Embiid’s absence was the most impactful. Now sitting as the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 20-36 record, every game is vital for Philadelphia’s hopes of staging a late-season comeback.
Joel Embiid’s name appears once again on the Sixers’ injury report. He is listed as questionable due to knee injury management. Embiid has only played 19 of 56 games this season. In those games, he has averaged 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists.
Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey’s status, however, also adds uncertainty. He is listed as questionable with a right finger sprain. Maxey has been a major contributor this season, often carrying the scoring load during Embiid’s absence.
The injury report doesn’t end there. Justin Edwards remains out with a left ankle sprain, while veteran guards Eric Gordon and Kyle Lowry are also sidelined, dealing with right wrist and right hip injuries, respectively. Additionally, Jared McCain is ruled out following left knee surgery.
Joel Embiid And 76ers Weigh Surgery As Knee Concerns Linger
Joel Embiid recently hinted that off-season surgery could be a real possibility. Embiid and the Sixers are now exploring every available option to ensure his long-term health and effectiveness on the court. On Sunday, ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed that Embiid and the team are actively consulting with medical professionals to determine the best path forward.
“The Philadelphia 76ers and Joel Embiid are consulting doctors and considering alternative options, such as surgery, for his injured left knee,” Shams reported.

Embiid himself recently addressed the struggles he’s faced since undergoing knee surgery in February of last year. The former MVP admitted that the short recovery window left him without the time needed for a full comeback.
