Rap superstar Drake appeared to aim subtle jabs at NBA icon LeBron James in his freestyle “Fighting Irish,” which was released in January this year.

Since last year, the rap feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has intensified, now seemingly drawing NBA star LeBron James into the mix. Reports indicate that the “God’s Plan” artist is calling out former allies for switching loyalties, with James rumored to be one of his targets in the latest diss track.

Speculation about a rift between Drake and LeBron James surfaced after the rapper released the diss track “Fighting Irish.” Many fans believe he was targeting the NBA star, as the title references James’ high school mascot. This fueled rumors of underlying tension, though neither has publicly addressed the situation.

What Is The Status Of Drake-LeBron James Beef?

Fresh details about their alleged fallout emerged on the latest episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast, where the hosts analyzed what might have happened. Rory recalled that MAL had previously mentioned James dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s “Man at the Garden” at his birthday party—an event that could be linked to Drake reportedly unfollowing him on social media.

Where are they now? Keeping tabs on players from the past with Honest Larry
The Boston Celtics can finally concentrate on finding the players on finishing their roster with the Kevin Durant trade request from the Brooklyn Nets rescinded, and in so doing will likely create some new alumni in the process by bringing on a few new players in place of the depth that they had in the 2021-22 NBA season. But where are the players from Boston’s past signing for this upcoming season? What teams and leagues are they signing with? Who is making the leap into coaching? Who are still waiting for the logjam that is KD that just broke to open up some spots for them to sign with a team in the Association? For this episode of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast, we decided to take a trip down memory lane to get ourselves up to speed on where the alumni of the Celtics are going to spend the upcoming season.  To do that we enlisted friend of the pod and unofficial team Twitter historian Honest Larry, who linked up with your usual hosts Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn to figure out where these blasts from Boston’s past hang their hats (and their jerseys) now. Why Boston is probably not making big moves at the deadline with Yossi Gozlan
With the Boston Celtics rolling and their path to hanging Banner 18 looking more possible than it has in many years, you can’t fault fans of the storied ball club for hoping for a reunion with former Boston big men Daniel Theis or Kelly Olynyk. Or failing that, team president Brad Stevens getting a deal done for rumored target Isaiah Stewart to fortify the team’s frontcourt. But even fairly modest trades like these are probably not in the cards for the Celtics this season, who can’t follow through with an offer that makes sense given the exigencies of the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement or the team’s current structure. But the team will almost certainly make at least a few lesser moves to get better ahead of the NBA’s 2024 trade deadline in Early February, so the hosts of CLNS Media’s “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with Cap Sheets’ Yossi Gozlan to try to project what it is Boston actually will end up doing. We also get into why those fun but unrealistic deals bringing back Celtics alumni or Beef Stew are unlikely or impossible, and get caught up on the last Boston news of 2023. Boston wins Game 4 vs. Miami, but lose Kristaps Porzingis; what happens next?
The Boston Celtics won Game 4 of their 2024 NBA Eastern Conference first round series with the Miami Heat to take a commanding 3-1 lead at Kaseya Center on Monday night, but the win came at a cost. The Celtics lost star big man Kristaps Porzingis to what is being described as a calf strain, and could miss substantial time as a result. How does Porzingis’ injury impact the rest of the series vs. the Heat? Assuming Boston advances (and we should), how do the team’s rotations change in terms of minutes distribution of frontcourt minutes change — and who gets them? The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast took a deep dive into Boston’s Game 4 results and what it means for the team moving forward. We also take a quick look around the league at some other developments that may impact Boston as well, focusing on what we want to see in Game 5. Rory also suggested that the track had been recorded months ago, meaning its message likely extends beyond just James. Instead, it could be aimed at multiple former allies who seemingly took the opposing side.

Meanwhile, MAL speculated that since the track’s title surfaced, some of Drake’s friends—possibly including James—might have tried to reach out to him. “I’m sure people have been reaching out to him and backsliding and backtracking certain actions and reaching out to him,” he explained.

However, MAL also theorized that the song’s title might be Drake’s way of telling those who distanced themselves during the feud to remain where they stood.

“I think this is probably his way of letting those people know, like, nah fam. You gotta stay over there. You picked a side. and you gotta stay over there,” he added.
