Former NBA center Oliver Miller, a member of the Toronto Raptors’ inaugural 1995-96 season, has passed away at the age of 54.

Eddie Johnson, another former NBA standout who played 17 seasons in the NBA, broke the tragic news in an X/Twitter post on Friday evening. The Raptors later put out a statement on Oliver Miller’s passing:

According to Chris May of KATV News in Little Rock, Arkansas, Miller passed away following a battle with cancer. The Fort Worth, Texas, native had three children and multiple grandchildren.

Miller was drafted 22nd overall by the Phoenix Suns in 1992, spending his first two seasons there before landing with the Detroit Pistons in 1994-95. Miller helped the Suns reach the 1993 NBA Finals in his rookie season, where they lost to Michael Jordan’s dynastic Chicago Bulls.

“The Big O” had his most productive season on the 1995-96 Raptors in their inaugural season, averaging 12.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Over his nine-year career, Oliver Miller averaged 7.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest.

Previewing Boston’s 2024 NBA trade deadline possibilities with Jack Simone
The NBA’s 2024 trade deadline now perhaps better measured in hours than in days. And knowing what the range of possibilities that exists for the Boston Celtics to choose from to make moves to bolster their roster for a push to the 2024 NBA Finals is a good place to start. What can the Celtics do to get better? Which moves are more likely, and which make little sense? Who are the likely targets, and which ones might surprise us? More importantly, what is off the table for Boston’s front office, and which trade targets should the Celtics be pursuing? To get our bearings for what should be an impactful if comparatively quiet trade deadline for Boston, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with “How Bout Them Celtics!” cohost Jack Simone to talk ourselves through his recent trade deadline primer for Celtics Blog. We also touch on the news, recent games, Marcus Smart’s return, Joel Embiid’s knee, and a ton more, so be sure to tune in. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

CL Pod 59: The Boston Celtics Aren’t Dead – They’re Feeling Better, Actually
The Boston Celtics aren’t dead – they’re feeling better actually. Excuse the Monty Python reference, but with all the injuries this team has managed to keep going with yet still be in the hunt for the ultimate prize, Python’s Holy Grail seems pretty apt. The starters have shown signs of life despite being left for dead by the national media, and the second unit keeps on fighting despite losing several key parts, much like the Black Knight. But what other moves has Boston made to address their significant lack of depth, and how are the playoffs looking this week? Maybe most interesting of all, why are beat writers penning missives to their lack of yearning for a departed former player six months after said exit? All these questions and more are answered by Luis Gonzales and Justin Quinn in this week’s podcast.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Talking about Boston’s contender status, KG’s jersey retirement and more with Jason Terry
As the Boston Celtics inch towards contender status with improved play on both ends of the court at the same time the Brooklyn Nets are trying to find enough health to compete for a title, the two teams could very well be on a postseason collision course. One that began almost a decade ago when a fateful trade sent Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry to Brooklyn, and, given that it is just weeks before Garnett will have his Celtics jersey raised up to the rafters, we couldn’t think of a better person to talk about it with on the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast than the JET himself. In this episode, Cameron Tabatabaie and Justin Quinn are joined by Terry to talk about his time in Boston in their last era of contention, what it was like playing with KG, how he thinks of the Celtics and Nets’ short and medium-term futures, what’s keeping him busy these days and plenty more. This was a very fun pod that even has a Big Ticket in a helicopter story, so be sure to check it out.
