On February 2, 2025, the Los Angeles Lakers made headlines across the NBA by acquiring Luka Doncic in a remarkable trade with the Dallas Mavericks. This transaction has established a formidable partnership between Doncic and superstar LeBron James, which has significantly boosted the confidence of their teammates, notably Dorian Finney-Smith.

Doncic has participated in five games with the Lakers since his trade, and his influence is evident. He is currently averaging 19 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists over these games. In a recent interview, Finney-Smith amusingly remarked that teaming up with James and Doncic has significantly altered his shooting opportunities.

Jovan Buha from The Athletic reported that Dorian Finney-Smith remarked he has been receiving “butt-naked wide-open” opportunities while playing alongside Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

Finney-Smith clarified, “Excuse my language,” indicating awareness of his expression. He also recognized that he has occasionally rushed some of his attempts and highlighted the necessity of adopting a more measured approach.
