After weeks of speculation, De’Aaron Fox joined the San Antonio Spurs on February 3, 2025, as part of a three-team trade that also involved the Chicago Bulls and Sacramento Kings. Fox had been facing challenges with the Kings, his former team, particularly after he declined to sign an extension. This trade intensified the existing tensions between Fox and the Kings.

In a recent press conference, Fox expressed critical remarks about his former team. He highlighted that the Spurs present a greater diversity in their strategic approach compared to the Kings. Furthermore, he emphasized the supportive culture of his new franchise toward both players and staff, illustrating a marked difference in organizational dynamics.

Fox’s remarks were not well-received by King’s supporters. One fan, Brandon Smith, expressed his discontent by stating, “F*ck this guy, your wife was courtside for every game in Sacramento but yes the Kings aren’t accommodating to a player that isn’t a superstar.”

De’Aaron’s wife, Recee Fox, quickly responded to a fan’s claims in the comment section. She clarified that they had to pay full price for their tickets to watch the games. “This take is comical. Do yall think we got those tickets for free? We paid full price for those,” Recee stated.

De’Aaron Fox Provides Insight Into Team Mentality Without Victor Wembanyama

On February 20, the Spurs announced that they would be ending Victor Wembanyama’s season after a medical assessment revealed deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. This news represents a significant setback for the Spurs as they navigate a difficult 2024-25 NBA season. However, after the team’s 120-109 victory against the Phoenix Suns, Fox shared the team’s mentality following Wemby’s absence.

First and foremost, every time we step foot on the court, we’re trying to win the game, regardless of who’s out there,” Fox said. “So, for us, like I said, we come together. We know we have to go on the run if we want to get to the play-in or the playoffs.”
