The Celtics tied some team history but ended up on the losing side in a 118-112 defeat to the Thunder on Wednesday night.

Boston tied its team record with 63 trey attempts, falling seven short of tying the NBA record of 70 set by the Rockets on Jan. 16, 2019, when they did so against the Nets at Toyota Center.

“Yeah, I’m pretty happy with it, with us taking those kind of shots with the shooters that we have, and I feel like the vast majority of them were good looks,” Al Horford told reporters postgame, according to The Boston Herald. “We got what we wanted. Our guys drove in the paint, kicked it out, we got the looks. … There’s different ways we can go about it, and if we make a few more of those, it’s probably a different story.

“That wasn’t the case, but I’m OK with that.”

On Wednesday, the Celtics shot 22 3-pointers in the first quarter — the second most for a single quarter in an NBA game — and had 36 by the end of the first half, a new NBA record.

The 30 points that were put up during the first quarter were all made via a 3-point shot or free throw, with none coming in front of the arc.

With all of the chances, the Celtics shot only 31. 7 percent (20 of 63) from 3-point land, about six percent worse than their season average.

Jayson Tatum took a team-high 13 3-pointers, making four.

Derrick White and Al Horford each went 6 of 12.

While no one on the Thunder attempted more than eight 3-pointers, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 34 points to get the win at TD Garden in Boston.

Boston entered the game averaging an NBA-best 48.0 3-point attempts and 17.8 made treys per game this year.

The Celtics attempted 58 3-pointers as a team in their previous game against the Jazz.
