On February 2, 2025, the Dallas Mavericks caused a seismic shift in the NBA landscape by executing a blockbuster trade. They sent their superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. This highly scrutinized move sparked widespread debate among analysts and fans alike.

In a recent interview, Davis recognized the disappointment experienced by Mavericks fans in the wake of Luka Doncic’s departure. Furthermore, he conveyed a powerful message aimed at reassuring them.

“I know the whole the city was down because of the Luka thing. At the same time, you know, I know who I am as a player. I’m top 75 of all time, and I just want to let the Dallas fans like, ‘hey, I got you, I’m here now.’ So, like, I know you lost a,superstar Luka, but you also gain a superstar myself.” Davis said (via NBA Retweet).

In an exhilarating debut on February 8, Davis exhibited his remarkable talents, scoring 26 points, securing 16 rebounds, distributing seven assists, and blocking three shots. He ultimately led the Mavericks to a 116–105 triumph over the Houston Rockets.

With this outstanding performance, Davis etched his name alongside Dončić and Michael Finley as one of only three players in Mavericks franchise history to achieve at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists within a single half.

Fans were genuinely excited by Davis’s impactful arrival. Regrettably, he sustained a strain to his left adductor during the game, which is anticipated to keep him sidelined for several weeks.

Celtics mystique, Showtime Lakers, frustrating starts with Anthony Irwin
The rivalry between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers is one of the oldest and most celebrated in all of sport, and for good reason. Somehow, nearly seven decades into the heated competition for dominance in greatness between the two storied franchise, the tally remains at a tie after the Lakers’ most recent title, with each club now at 17 titles each. This Friday, Nov. 19, the two teams will meet again on the Celtics’ home court of TD Garden, but this time around the two teams will not exactly be arriving at the tilt in the best of shape in terms of records, with each club struggling a bit early in the 2021-22 NBA season. On this episode of the CLNS Media podcast “Celtics Lab,” your usual hosts of Cameron Tabatabaie, Alex Goldberg, and Justin Quinn are joined by special guest Anthony Irwin of Silver Screen and Roll and the “Locked on Lakers” podcast to talk about what’s behind each club’s slow start, and what we can expect to see Friday among several other topics.  If you’re of the ilk with tribalistic hatred for all things purple and gold, this might not be the pod for you, but if you want an honest look at both clubs as they are this season, hit play on the clip embedded above. Gearing up for a Brooklyn Nets-Boston Celtics collision with Nick Fay
The Boston Celtics will face the Brooklyn Nets later this week with the Eastern Conference’s top spot potentially at stake, and while a bit of the wind has been taken out of the proverbial sails of the matchup with Nets star Kevin Durant out for the game with a sprained MCL as well as an outside shot of Marcus Smart missing the contest with a contused knee, it will still be a very important game for the Celtics. More data for a potential postseason collision, the aforementioned top spot in play, and a chance to see if Boston will play the way they should despite the absence of KD all loom large. The growth of Brooklyn bigs Nick Claxton and Ben Simmons also figures to be a point of concern, and any time the team crosses paths with Kyrie Irving, things get intense. To that end, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with the host of the Off the Glass “Brooklyn Buzz” podcast Nick Fay to talk all things Celtics-Nets. The foursome get into how Durant’s absence may impact the MVP race, what sort of trade targets each squad might have interest in at the 2023 NBA trade deadline, and more. Jason Kidd Opines On the Future Of Anthony Davis After Season Exit Rumors

The Mavericks suffered a significant setback on March 3 when their star player, Kyrie Irving, tore his ACL in the first quarter of a game against the Sacramento Kings. This injury ended his season and raised questions about his availability for the 2025–26 season.

Following this incident, rumors circulated online about the possibility of Anthony Davis being sidelined for the remainder of the season. In a recent interview, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd reflected on the team’s situation during the ongoing 2024-25 NBA season.

“Just taking it day by day & trying to get healthy & continue to put our best foot forward to compete and win. Right now, we have 19 games left. We’re just focused on the Grizzlies right now. As we go forward, hopefully we continue to get positive news on Lively. He’s out of the boot so he’s going in the right direction. AD is trending in the right direction. As we go forward, there’ll be more news to come. Hopefully it says they’ll be ready to play, but we just don’t know when.” Kidd said before the recent game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Mavericks currently occupy the 10th spot in the conference standings with a record of 32 wins and 32 losses. They will play their next game against the Phoenix Suns at the American Airlines Center.
