Jelly Roll, the breakout country and rock artist known for his raw, vulnerable lyrics, has opened up about the health challenges he faced during his grueling 2024 Beautifully Broken Tour. Despite his rising fame and immense success, the journey has not been without its struggles, and Jelly Roll has been candid about how his physical and mental health affected his ability to perform.
“I was on antibiotics for 70 of the 90 days of that tour,” he revealed.
It’s no secret that Jelly Roll made major strides on his health journey during 2024’s Beautifully Broken Tour. From the outside it seemed that he was looking and feeling great, however the music sensation now reveals he was actually pretty sick throughout the majority of the run.
While sitting down with his wife, Bunnie XO, on her Dumb Blonde podcast, she explained that right from the start of the tour, he was under “extreme duress.” The issues began on the eve of his very first show in Utah when the “Save Me” singer was forced to head to the hospital. He described experiencing terrible stomach pain that they believed to be appendicitis or an issue with the gallbladder.
“I thought we were gonna have to cancel the first five shows because I thought I had to get a gallbladder removed,” Jelly roll recalled before admitting, “I hadn’t ate for a week. Just could not. It was horrible.”
Bunnie somberly added, “He was in so much pain.”
Performed With A Numb Mouth Post-Oral Surgery
Along with the stomach pain, he also had a root canal at one point during the run which led to an infection in his jaw. His other half proudly shared how he was able to still put on an incredible show for his fans post-surgery.
“My husband literally went to the oral surgeon, had surgery on his mouth, walked in and walked on that stage,” she shared before he interjected saying, “My mouth was still numb. I did the first three songs feeling like I had slobber coming off my face.”
Bunnie went on to commend her husband on his resilience as she said, “I don’t think people understand, you were dealing with a severe situation going on in your mouth and still showing up.”
“We really have been making healthy decisions and especially you this year, like I am so proud of you,” she gushed. “To lose 100 lbs naturally, I would like to let everybody know that it’s naturally. No Ozempic, no shots, no nothing. You have regulated your hormones, you have done the work.”
Jelly Roll had a big smile on his face as she encouraged him to share that his newest goal is to be on the cover of men’s health by 2026. “I want to have one of the biggest transformations,” he admitted.
As far as touring in 2025, Jelly Roll will be hitting the road again soon as he has been tapped to join Post Malone on The BIG ASS Stadium Tour. The genre-bending stars will kick off the run on April 29 at Salt Lake City’s Rice-Eccles Stadium and continue with stops at 25 stadiums across the United States and Canada through July. The collective health issues he faced on The Beautifully Broken Tour caused Jelly Roll to be on medication for the majority of the trek, which also had an impact on his gut.
“I was on antibiotics for 70 of the 90 days of that tour,” he revealed.

Finding The Positive
Not only did he continue to show up for his fans during this time but also for himself. Towards the end of the tour, the Antioch, Tenn. native shared a sneak peek into his progress, and proudly declared that he has lost 100 lbs naturally.
“The good news was, all that kind of pushed me further into the health journey. These were all little guides,” he explained.
Despite having a lot of highs and lows behind the scenes, the Beautifully Broken Tour was inarguably one of the biggest country tours of the year because of Jelly Roll’s dedication. And somehow, like he often does, he still managed to find the light at the end of the tunnel.
“It’s weird. Spiritually, it was the best tour of my life. Performance-wise, it was the best tour of my life,” he claimed. “The 90 minutes we were onstage, I think we connected the way we’ve never connected from the stage, overall.”
“Physically, even though I lost 100 pounds, worst tour of my career,” he noted.
