Nike is one of the world’s top Sports brands; many fans know and love its products. Some of those fans are massive star athletes who will represent it on the biggest stage in their respective sports.

Nike has signed some of the biggest names in the world of sports. Their roster of athletes includes the likes of Caitlin Clark, LeBron James, and Victor Wembanyama. They have even gone as far as to collaborate with reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

As the company attempts to be a world-class brand, it always makes moves to appeal to mass audiences. One of the biggest audiences in the world of sports is fans and athletes of female sports leagues.

However, Nike may have gone too far with one of its most recent ads. Some of the biggest stars in women’s sports even call out the sports brand for its commercial and ” fakeness” after it failed in a particular category.

The ad, which includes lines such as “You can’t win, so win” and “You can’t fill a stadium, so fill that stadium,” is now being criticized after it failed to address one of the biggest issues facing women’s sports.

Breaking down Boston’s Game 2 win vs. the Pacers, what to expect in Game 3
The Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers 126-110 in Game 2 of the NBA’s 2024 Eastern Conference finals thanks to a career playoff-high matching 40 points from Jaylen Brown. But it came at the expense of backup big man Luke Kornet’s wrist being sprained on a team already thin at center; will Boston be okay with Kornet on the bench?. On the other side of the court, however, we saw Pacers star Tyrese Halliburton leave the game injured in the second half with what initially appeared to be a re-aggravation of the hamstring injury that kept him out for significant time this season. Will he be able to play when the series shifts pack to Indiana for Game 3, and if not, is a sweep incoming? The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast reacted to the win postgame from the Garden (excuse the Wi-Fi issues, please), seeing some small ball looks that paid off — and defensive lapses that did not.  The Celtics Lab podcast is brought to you by Prize Picks and Gametime. Talking COVID-19, vaccination and the NBA with In the Bubble’s Andy Slavitt
Much of the conversation ahead of the 2021-22 NBA season circulating in the NBA media has revolved around something that isn’t necessarily a basketball conversation, though it has pervaded virtually all aspects of contemporary life. We are of course talking about COVID-19 vaccination in the league, and in particular some especially vaccine-resistant players who occupy positions of considerable influence. But rather than making the story about those individuals, the hosts of the “Celtics Lab” podcast Justin Quinn, Cam Tabatabaie, and Alex Goldberg dug deep in the hopes of re-setting the narratives a bit surrounding how we should engage those persons and the issue of vaccine hesitancy (and more pernicious anti-vaccine sentiments) in society more generally. It can be hard for some of us in the media to see Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, and others resistant to making choices for the common good, but a steady stream of fan and media ire is almost certainly going to do little to change their minds on how they can best use their platforms (and bodies) to make us all safer (and teams perhaps more successful) in the midst of a pandemic.  To that end, we were incredibly lucky to have Andy Slavitt of the “In the Bubble with Andy Slavitt” podcast to talk on the intersection of public health in an era of COVID-19, the NBA and society at large. Andy has worked with the last three presidents on issues of public health, most recently serving as President Biden’s COVID-19 advisor. We hope you find this podcast as informative and helpful in coping with and making progress on this viral scourge affecting all of our lives as we did. “I’ve never been told that I can’t flex or can’t do this or that,” stated Canadian powerlifter April Hutchinson in a video uploaded by XX-XY Athletics, which is an advocacy group advocation for the prevention of biological males in women’s sports.

“That Nike ad kinda represented old feminism. I don’t think anyone is telling women in sports they can’t champion their sport,” added Sia Liilii, who captains the University of Nevada Women’s Volleyball squad.

Other athletes in the video went off saying stuff like: “Fake feminism, Pretending to care about women, and Nike is ignoring the real problem.” was all said.

Nike has yet to respond to any backlash received after premiering the commercial during Super Bowl 59. If Nike has anything to say, odds are, they will have to make it heartfelt due to the outpouring of dislike for it.
