NEW DEAL Jerry Jones shocks fans with $8 million Dallas Cowboys contract to hometown star veteran after quiet NFL free agency
THE Dallas COWBOYS have welcomed one of Texas’ finest stars back with a massive contract.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones surprised fans by offering a $8 million deal to one of the biggest free agents in the NFL.
That is none other than Solomon Thomas, who returned to the Lone Star State, where he made a name for himself during his high school years at Coppell.
According to ESPN, Thomas, 29, and Dallas agreed on a lucrative two-year deal.
The contract came as a shock to NFL fans after the Cowboys hardly made any additions to their squad in last year’s free agency period.
“Dallas makes a move. Finally!” one wrote.
“Cowboys did something?” another asked.
“Cowboys are finally making some moves,” a third said.
“Let Jerry cook!” a fourth commented.
The Cowboys and Thomas didn’t struggle to shake hands as the defensive tackle considers Dallas as “home”.
The ex-New York Jets star is a Chicago native but fell in love with Texas during school as he was based about a 20-minute drive away from the Star in Frisco.
Thomas then attended college at Stanford in 2014 before getting drafted No3 overall by the San Francisco 49ers three years later.

After three years with the 49ers, the NFL star moved to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he spent one season.
He then signed with the Jets in 2022, where he played for two successful years.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer’s defensive line is in need of bodies in the room.
Dallas failed to make it to the playoffs after a turbulent 2024 season.
The NFL giants managed a mere seven victories and lost a staggering 10 games.
Thus, Jones, 82, will need as much star power as possible for the 2025 season.
The Cowboys could add more pieces as NFL free agency officially begins on Wednesday at 4:00 pm Eastern.
