MARKED MOMENT I know Meghan Markle’s show’s second season is guaranteed be just as awful – here’s why
MEGHAN Markle’s cooking show arrived with a bang this month on Netflix – and it’s already been renewed for a second series.
This is despite it no longer being in the UK Top 10 and having a 2.9/10 rating on IMDb, and royal photographer Arthur Edwards shared why the second series will be ‘just as bad.’
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, the renowned snapper shared: “I’ve not seen one good review.
“Some of the columnists have ripped into her and the show.
“I could only watch one episode, I was just bored of it all, but someone must be liking it, as there is a second series.”
The duchess posted on Instagram saying she’s “thrilled” with the decision.
Wearing a Netflix cap she was seen grinning in a short clip on her stories, with the caption: “Lettuce romaine calm… or not(!) because I’m thrilled to share that Season 2 of ‘With Love, Meghan’ is coming!”
A TV insider said: “This may raise a few eyebrows but one thing which Netflix love is controversy – and this show certainly created a lot of debate.
“Many were so scathing about the eight-part series that they thought there was no way it would get another season.
“But it seems the streamer is delighted with the chatter it has created on both sides of the Atlantic this week.”
Meghan’s eight-part show saw her bee-keeping, making homemade candles and cooking with celeb pals, including Mindy Kaling and make-up artist Daniel Martin.
With Love, Meghan has been released to tie in with the launch of the Duchess of Sussex’s As Ever brand, which is yet to sell products.
Royal correspondent Sarah Hewson added: “There’s a few of the products on there [on the website], the floral sprinkles, the flower petals, the crepe mix and various different jams.
“They’re not on sale yet. They’re still coming. The Netflix stores are going to be launching soon.
“I think it saves face for Meghan that she can get a second series.
“It didn’t bomb after one series, she can say it was recommissioned. “But we’ll have to see what more there is. Because, you know, having watched all eight episodes, it’s pretty formulaic.”
Meghan’s new podcast
This comes as Meghan has unveiled she will be launching a new podcast.
The Duchess of Sussex said her new venture would be called ‘Confessions of a Female Founder’.
The venture, with Lemonada Media, is described by the US podcast company as inviting listeners “to be a fly on the wall as Meghan sits down for candid conversations with female founders and friends” to talk about all things business-related.
Meghan added that the first episode would air on April 8.
A trailer for her new venture will be released within days on March 25.
Confessions Of A Female Founder will be Meghan’s second attempt at entering the podcast sphere after the failed launch of Archetypes.
The show was about female stereotypes and ran for just one series before getting the boot.
