CAPITAL GAINS Philadelphia Eagles invite from Donald Trump ‘enthusiastically’ accepted as team works out White House logistics
THE Philadelphia Eagles have accepted their invitation to the White House “enthusiastically.”
A spokesman for the team confirmed the Super Bowl champions are working out logistics for meeting President Donald Trump.
Winners of major U.S. sports leagues usually get an invite to the White House.
There was controversy in 2018 when the Eagles won the Super Bowl during Trump’s first term as President.
He canceled their visit after a dispute over national anthem protests.
Some members of their Super Bowl LII championship team seven years ago also said they would decline any invite.
But a spokesman told CBS News that this year the team have “enthusiastically accepted.”
Trump became the first sitting President to attend a Super Bowl last month.
He watched the Eagles defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at the Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
There was speculation after the Eagles’ win that they would not visit the White House.
But Trump revealed last month that an invite would be extended to the NFL’s champion team.
“They will be, we haven’t yet but we will be,” the President said.

“I thought it was a great performance by them.
Absolutely, they’ll be extended that invitation. We’ll do that right away.
“They deserve to be down here and we hope to see them.”
And the team have confirmed they’re working on a date to make the visit to the capital.
Trump made headlines in 2017 when he uninvited the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
Steph Curry and his teammates made it clear they didn’t fancy rubbing shoulders with him at the White House.
LeBron James even piled in to defend Curry after Trump withdrew his invitation.
Trump has been back in office since January for a second term.
Since beating Kamala Harris in the election last November, he has also been spotted at a UFC event.
He was loudly cheered by fans in the stadium at the Super Bowl when he appeared on screen during the national anthem.
