Remember when Taylor Swift was still deep in her country era? She teamed up with Tim McGraw and Keith Urban for a stunning live performance of Highway Don’t Care at the ACM Awards. McGraw kicked things off with the first verse before Swift took over the second, their voices blending beautifully on the chorus. Urban, as always, delivered a masterful guitar solo, closing out the song with his signature mix of tone, phrasing, and sheer skill. This unforgettable collaboration proved that some live performances are just as magical on stage as they are on paper.
Tim McGraw performed ‘Highway Don’t Care’ at the 2013 Academy of Country Music awards on Sunday night (April 7), and a couple of high-powered friends dropped in to help him out.
Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan couldn’t resist a bit about McGraw, with Shelton saying that he didn’t see the big deal about McGraw’s new buff body, since he’s always had the best body in country music — to which Bryan replied that her name was Faith Hill.
With that, Hill came out to introduce her husband, joking that she was not just gushing about him because he was her ride home. McGraw took center stage for a performance of ‘Highway Don’t Care’ — from his current album ‘Two Lanes of Freedom’ — in which he took the first verse, while Taylor Swift took the second before blending with him in harmony on the chorus.
Keith Urban was on hand for a typically killer guitar solo that displayed his trademark blend of tone, phrasing and chops to bring the song to a close, demonstrating once again that sometimes on stage live collaborations can work as well live as they do on paper.
