JENNIFER Lopez is a no-holds barred winner of an award for her wrestling film role.
The singer shimmered in a silver dress as she picked up the Maverick gong for biopic Unstoppable at the Indie Wire Awards in LA.
J-Lo, 55, said: “This award really does hold a special place in my heart because of the word maverick.
“It means an individualist, a non-conformist, a free spirit, an original, a trendsetter, an eccentric, an outsider, a rebel, a dissident, a disrupter.
“What a beautiful thing to be recognized for, for charting your own course.”
The singer was handed the accolade for her role as wrestler Anthony Robles’s mother July in Unstoppable.
Jharrel Jerome plays Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg, but succeeded against the odds to become a wrestling champion.
Robles’ biggest supporters, struggling mum Judy, played by Jennifer, and high school coach Bobby (Michael Pena), never stop believing in him.
The triumph-over-adversity tale, based on a true story, doesn’t break new ground, but certainly delivers, according to reviews.
J-Lo filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, 52, in August just two years after they married.
Since the news was made public, they have not been seen together.
