Lakers Star Luka Doncic Holds Back After Calling Officiating “Not Fair” In Nets Game, Setting Social Media Abuzz

The Los Angeles Lakers faced a tough battle on Monday night, playing without their leader, LeBron James. With James sidelined, the responsibility fell on Luka Doncic to guide the team. However, despite his efforts, the Lakers fell short in a close 111-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
While the loss was frustrating in itself, Doncic’s disappointment stemmed from the officiating, particularly a controversial no-call involving Brooklyn’s Nicolas Claxton. During the game, Claxton shoved Doncic in the back with both hands.
The contact was obvious, yet the referees chose not to blow the whistle. Doncic was visibly frustrated and made his feelings clear in the postgame press conference.
“At the end of the day, it was a lot. It wasn’t fair, but you know, just gotta play the game. I gotta keep playing the game. But it was a lot, man, I’m not gonna lie,” Doncic said.
“I’m not gonna say anything, but everyone saw the game, so they know what happened,” Doncic added when pressed about his ‘not fair’ comment.
Doncic put up a triple-double, recording 22 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists, and two steals in the loss. However, it wasn’t his most efficient night, as he shot 8-of-22 from the field and 3-of-10 from three-point range.

Fans React To Luka Doncic Calling Officiating “Not Fair”

It wasn’t just Luka Doncic who took issue with the officiating. Lakers fans flooded social media, calling out the referees for missing key fouls throughout the game. Some were particularly sympathetic toward Doncic as they noted that he seemed to be the primary target of missed calls.
The loss marked the Lakers’ second straight defeat. It snapped the momentum of their recent eight-game winning streak since Doncic teamed up with the Lakers 40-year-old star.
The Lakers season record now stands at 40-23. Though it’s strong, it shows signs of vulnerability without James on the floor. Meanwhile, Doncic is now 0-2 as a Laker in games without LeBron.
