Fox News contributor Kat Timpf learned that she had breast cancer hours before giving birth to her son.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, Timpf, 36, who first announced her pregnancy last July, revealed in a post shared on Instagram and X that she and husband Cameron Friscia welcomed their first child together hours after she learned that she had breast cancer.
Referring to it as an âunconventional birth announcement,â Timpf wrote, âLast week, I welcomed my first child into the world. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.â
The Gutfield! panelist advised her followers that her doctor said her cancer is in Stage 0 âand is confident that it almost certainly hasnât spread.â
The National Breast Cancer Foundation explains on its website that Stage 0 is âthe earliest stage of breast cancerâ and âis highly treatable when detected early.â
Timpf wrote that finding out about her diagnosis, however, âwas not a chill day.â
âI woke up more-than-a-week-past-due pregnant, completely consumed by doing everything I could to get the baby out,â Timpf wrote. âBy the middle of the afternoon, I was waddling around from appointment to appointment, talking about how to get my cancer out.â

She said that it was during those appointments that she was told âthe best course of action would likely be a double mastectomy as soon as possible.â
She credited hospital staff for being âexcellent audiences for dark humor.â
âJust minutes after my boy was born, I was talking with the nurses about what a birth announcement in my situation might look like,â she explained.

Timpf said she is still getting used to her ânew reality,â as her next three months of maternity leave are set to be âa lot different than Iâd anticipated.â
âStill, as I navigate new motherhood (and new cancer) Iâm learning to celebrate everything I can. Iâm lucky that we found the cancer so early; Iâm lucky to be my sonâs mom,â she wrote. âI mean, I know Iâm biased, but the little dude absolutely rules â and not just because he might have saved my life.â
The new mom ended her post by thanking everyone for their support, writing, âHereâs to resilience, to miracles in the midst of chaos, and to finding humor and hope even on the toughest days.â
