The Denver Nuggets made a wise decision when they selected Nikola Jokic with the 41st overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. At that time, few people could have predicted the remarkable journey he would undertake. Fast forward to today, and Jokic is one of the league’s top players, delivering impressive performances week after week. Interestingly, his well-known draft-day experience has even prompted him to avoid Mexican fast food.

Nikola Jokic’s journey is closely tied to a hilarious incident involving Mexican fast food during the 2014 NBA Draft. As Jokic’s name was called, the broadcast had a Taco Bell commercial that totally stole the spotlight, showcasing only the bare minimum about his selection.

Fast forward to Jokic’s rise as a superstar, and this unforgettable moment turned into a running joke among fans and players. Jokic still isn’t a fan of that experience from his draft day.

In the documentary “Court of Gold,” he candidly shared his amusing yet complicated ties to the fast-food chain that stole his moment, quipping, “I think I’ve never had Taco Bell just because of that.”

Nikola Jokic Reflects On Lakers Ending Nuggets’ Nine-Game Win Streak

The Denver Nuggets were on fire, riding an impressive nine-game winning streak until they faced the Los Angeles Lakers in their latest matchup. Jokic put on a solid show, notching a triple-double with 12 points, 10 assists, and 13 rebounds in 35 minutes. Unfortunately, the night didn’t end well for the Nuggets, as they fell short with a final score of 100-123. After the game, Jokic took a moment to reflect on their winning run.

“We had the 9-game win streak against teams that were injured and teams that were not really good or high in the standings. So maybe we tricked ourselves into thinking that we are playing good.” Jokic said (via Bennett Durando of The Denver Post).
